Srinagar, Jul 09 (KNO): A day after assessing operational preparedness in Kashmir, Army Chief General Dhiraj Seth on Thursday reviewed the security situation along the Line of Control (LoC) and the counter-insurgency grid in the Pir Panjal region. An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the Army chief visited forward areas in Poonch, Rajouri and Sunderbani, where he was briefed by the White Knight Corps on the prevailing security environment, operational deployments and the overall counter-insurgency framework along the LoC. The official said that senior commanders apprised the Army Chief of the surveillance architecture, field-level innovations, integrated operational readiness and the progress of infrastructure development in the forward areas. General Seth reviewed initiatives aimed at strengthening connectivity and improving facilities in border villages, besides assessing ongoing people-centric programmes being implemented in the region, the official added. Pertinently, on Wednesday, the Army Chief had visited the headquarters of the Srinagar-based Chinar Corps, where he reviewed the overall security situation in the Valley, operational preparedness along the LoC and the hinterland, as well as the Army's combat readiness. During the briefing, officers informed him about operational deployments, counter-terrorism operations, inter-agency coordination, evolving security challenges and arrangements made for the ongoing Amarnath Yatra. The Army Chief also reviewed measures related to technology induction, capability enhancement and integrated combat preparedness across operational theatres. General Seth commended troops for their professionalism and dedication under challenging conditions and urged them to remain mission-focused, operationally agile and maintain the highest standards of operational excellence.
